The Jettribe Striker Back Deflector is a required safety device for most closed-course race sanctioning organizations. It is constructed of a dual-layer compression molded EVA foam, providing a semi-hard frame that remains flexible for rider movement. The "First Layer" ABS Plastic Shell is designed to reduce, deflect, or defeat accidental impacts at the farthest layer from the rider's body, while the second layer of EVA foam adds additional flotation and impact energy-absorbing factors.
The Striker is compatible with almost all standard side-entry and USCG life vests, with the top two straps securing around the left and right shoulder straps and the bottom four straps attaching to the left and right side straps using a locking Velcro closure for a snug and secure fit.
The size of the Back Deflector depends on the height of the rider and the requirements of the race director. The Large (Adult) size measures 23 inches in length and 9.5 inches in width, while the Youth (Small) size is 20.5 inches in length and 9.5 inches in width. Most adults can use the Large size with adequate protection, but it's essential to check with your race organization for specific sizing requirements. Most organizations require the plate to rest no more than 3 inches above the rider's hip line.
